Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently having his best season of his young career, averaging a career-high in all the major statistics. 23 points per game, 8.5 rebounds per game, 5.4 assists per game, 1.7 steals per game and 1.9 blocks per game. Oh yea, and he's also averaging a career-high in field goal percentage too, at an amazing clip, 52.4%. This crazy all around game has placed Giannis in the history books. This season Giannis Antetokounmpo is the only player in NBA history to be in the top 20 for every major statistic in a season. But in the midst of The Greek Freak's great season, he has time to discuss the respect he has for one of all time greats, LeBron James.
Giannis comments on LeBron James
"He's a guy that not just me, but everybody looks up to, and before I even came into the league I always looked up to." Giannis makes a strong judgment, saying everyone in the younger generations looks up to King James. Something LeBron has stated in the past that he takes pride in. Antetokounmpo added: "He's not just a great player, he has a great personality and is a great leader. He makes everybody better, keeps everybody alert and he has the whole package. That's the type of player you have to look up to."
So it seems that The Chosen One is a role model for the young star, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Someone the 22-year old looks up to. Not a bad role model, though, I must say.
4 MVP's, three championships and 3 Finals MVP's speak for themselves.
Best leader in the NBA?
Many names come to mind when posing the question, who is the best leader in the NBA? But King James seems to squeeze out as the number one choice. And it's not hard to see why. LeBron James leads his team to the highest order both on and off the court.
LeBron has been known to hold Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween parties for his teammates to bring them closer together. And on the court, we are all aware of the leadership he provides. Calling out plays, making sure all his teammates get involved and being there for his teammates in all situations. Those are just some leadership qualities LeBron poses on the court. Teammate Richard Jefferson has quoted LeBron on saying "Everyone gets on my back. If we win or fail, I’ll take the blame". If that's not the definition of a leader, I don't know what is!
