Marie Osmond was named a new host of the Emmy Award-winning CBS daytime talk show "The Talk" live on air Tuesday, May 7. Osmond will replace host and show creator Sarah Gilbert who announced last month that she was departing. Starting in September Osmond will join Eve, Sheryl Underwood, Sharon Osbourne and Carrie Ann Inaba at the table.
During the live announcement, Variety noted that Osmond expressed her gratitude for being chosen as the new host and what an honor it is to sit at the table with the ladies of "The Talk." She said the opportunity was “a dream come true.” Osmond let it be known that there is only one Mrs.
O at "The Talk" table. Osmond praised Sharon Osbourne for her brilliance and strength.
Osmond went on to tell Sarah Gilbert how much she adores her and how much she will be missed. She wished her luck on whatever she has planned next. In a statement, Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President of CBS Daytime Program called Marie Osmond’s career “impressive”. McDaniel talked about Osmond’s ability to be authentic and how her openness and honesty about her personal life has helped her connect with viewers.

Five decades in entertainment
Marie Osmond has been in entertainment for over five decades.
She is best known for her duets with brother Donny Osmond and their television variety shows. Both of the Osmond siblings achieved success together and as solo artists. They are currently in an award-winning residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas. Osmond is no stranger to daytime television, having guest co-hosted 40 episodes of "The Talk." She has previously hosted a talk show on Hallmark Channel called "Marie" and co-hosted a syndicated program called "Donny & Marie." Osmond made a statement in a Tweet shortly after the big announcement.

Social media is buzzing about Marie Osmond’s newest gig. With more than five hundred likes just minutes after the major announcement, people’s reactions are mostly positive. Osmond Tweeted, “It’s official.” "The Talk" is a one-hour entertainment talk show hosted by Sharon Osbourne, Sara Gilbert, Eve, Sheryl Underwood and Carrie Ann Inaba.
It is currently in its ninth season of production.
The show airs live from 2 to 3 PM on CBS in front of a live studio Audience in Los Angeles. Sara Gilbert co-hosts and developed the show, and she also serves as a producer. Gilbert is the third host to depart the show in three years. Most recently Julie Chen, the show’s former lead host left after allegations of sexual harassment in the workplace surrounding her husband, the then Chairman of CBS. He left his position last year after several women came forward and accused him of inappropriate behavior.
