Work is progressing on the 25th James Bond film where Daniel Craig will once again appear in the role of 007. Announcement of the cast and plot came during an official launch in Ian Fleming’s villa in Jamaica. Those present on the occasion were the Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson along with Cary Fukunaga. He is the new director and the film opens showing 007 in a relaxed mood in “his spiritual home”.

The Guardian opens up about what the storyline is like.

Barbara Broccoli explains that Bond is not on active service but relaxing in Jamaica. Plot details are sketchy and work on the script is still going on. It seems the CIA and Leiter want James Bond to help them locate a kidnapped scientist. The mission turns out to be a treacherous one because the mysterious villain has, in his armory, a dangerous new technology. Rami Malek will portray the role of the key villain. He won an Oscar in February for his role in “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Craig said he does Bond movies for the money

Getting Daniel Craig to star in the 25th James Bond film was a sort of victory because while promoting "Spectre", the star had said if he acted in another Bond movie, “it would only be for financial gain.” On the question of the next actor who could enact the role of Bond, he did not indicate any preference but there are some names like Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Richard Madden and Aidan Turner doing the rounds.

The Guardian goes on to add that Sam Mendes had directed both “Spectre” and “Skyfall” but he has since left. There were also differences that cropped up between Daniel Craig and Danny Boyle on the subject of Bond’s final appearance. Danny left in August 2018, a few weeks before starting the shooting.

Its original release was this autumn but the new date is in next April. The cast includes the MI6 regulars like M and Moneypenny with Ralph Fiennes as the new M (replacement of Judi Dench after Skyfall), and Naomie Harris as Moneypenny.

'Bond 25' could offer something new

According to the New Zealand Herald, the 25th James Bond movie will be Daniel Craig's fifth and final installment as 007 and will launch from Jamaica.

This Caribbean island nation is where Ian Fleming wrote all of his Bond novels and setting of "Bond 25" will be partly in Jamaica. This was the setting for “Dr. No” and “Live and Let Die.”

The team has roped in Oscar winner Rami Malek to play the role of the villain. Filming locations will be in Italy, Norway, and London apart from Jamaica with studio production based at Pinewood Studios outside London. It is normal practice to announce Bond films in Britain. However, this time there is a deviation because the cast and filmmakers made a live-streamed announcement from Fleming's Goldeneye villa in Jamaica. The last Bond film was “Spectre” in 2015.
