Disney is set to release a handful of Marvel-based shows on its streaming platform. In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Kevin Feige confirmed that those shows will definitely be tied into the expansive MCU. Among the shows coming include a Loki based series starring Tom Hiddleston. Unlike the former Netflix shows, the Disney+ shows will tie into the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The new series will be interwoven with the past, present and future of the MCU. Feige's comments come as rumors continue to build suggesting that Loki's show will take place over different moments in time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Hollywood Reporter said that Loki's story will take place over the course of human history.
Details of upcoming Marvel shows kept under wraps
Details of the Loki series and others heading to the Disney+ streaming service are still a mystery but has been rumored to be announced during San Diego Comic Con. Feige has said that Marvel will not say anything till after the release of "Avengers: Endgame," and "Spider-Man: Far From Home." This also means that the other planned shows involving Vision and Scarlet Witch and Winter Soldier and Falcon will take place in the MCU. Fans are now wondering when in the MCU timeline do these shows take place.
The Marvel Television shows including "Agents of SHIELD" and Hulu's "Runaways," among others have tried to connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Others have ignored the MCU. Besides the upcoming Marvel shows, Disney has also announced two Star Wars live-action series: "The Mandalorian," and the Rogue One based prequel series.
Marvel TV have previously attempted to draw connections with Marvel films
Kevin Feige has not said whether the shows will be in the current MCU timeline.
These upcoming shows featuring the stars of the MCU would be weird if Tom Hiddleston ignored his previous work as Loki in the past Marvel films. While these Disney+ projects should be handled by Marvel Television, they will instead be developed by Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios.
An expected Sam and Bucky show could focus on their military experiences, as well as Bucky's trauma as the Winter Soldier.
Their story could also take place in a post-Steve Rogers world, focusing on their grief and how they move forward without their good friend. Feige's latest comments suggest that prequels will be a part of Disney+ Marvel shows library. Feige now has all the major players of the MCU under his control and while that allows for one uniform vision.
