Daniel Craig is set to appear as James Bond in the 25th Bond film, but its expected to be his last appearance. The Inquisitr is reporting that Henry Cavill is being strongly considered to be the next James Bond, once Craig retires. Bond 25 will actually be directed by American director Cary Fukunaga.

MGM appears to be taking an interest in the former "Man of Steel" actor. Bond producers have said that they were looking at a "foreign born former superhero." That description matches Henry Cavill to a tee, especially since it was announced that Cavill was hanging up the cape and leaving the DC Extended Universe.

The news first broke as rumor featured on a gossip news site. This is still just a rumor, but it's the same site that reported Tom Cruise's Green Lantern casting rumor. Since nobody has confirmed the validity of the rumor, it's best to take it with a grain of salt.

Henry Cavill resume makes him the perfect choice for 007

WeGotThisCovered has said that Cavill is the perfect casting choice to fill James Bond's shoes, which is why many fans want to see him as Bond. Cavill would be in his late 30s, the first time he takes on the role. He has almost portrayed a type of James Bond in the "Man from U.N.C.L.E." movie a few years ago. He gave a strong performance in "Mission Impossible - Fallout," and his role in Netflix's "The Witcher," is raising his star power.

While MGM may want Henry Cavill for the role, they are still struggling to put together Bond 25. They have to make sure it is up to fans expectations, before getting too much involved in what comes after the upcoming Bond film. If Cavill ends up with the 007 role, then great. Cavill believes making Fallout has prepared him for a role like James Bond.

Henry Cavill open to the James Bond role

Henry Cavill recently spoke to Yahoo Movies and said that he would love to do the role and that it would be a really fun role. Now that he has Mission Impossible on his resume, he believes he can do real stunts and take them to the next level.

He wants to take what he learned from Fallout stunt work and carry it over to the James Bond franchise.

Cavill even said he would love to play a Brit because he does not often get the chance to play a Brit, so if MGM and Eon asked him, he would say yes.

Other big name stars are also being mentioned as potential replacements for Daniel Craig including Tom Hardy, James Norton, Jack Huston, and Idris Elba. However, Idris Elba recently told Good Morning Britain that he will not take the role. It will be interesting to see who does end up the next James Bond. The final Daniel Crag Bond movie comes out next year and will be released November 8, 2019.
