Michelle Obama was in Paris with her 17-year-old daughter Sasha to enjoy the “On the Run II” tour of Beyoncé and Jay-Z on Sunday night. Before they came on stage, the former first lady and Sasha were seen dancing with others. In fact, they were definitely noticed by ecstatic fans in the stands at the Stade de France. However, once the main concert began, Sasha vanished from the scene and Michelle was seen in conversation with Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles.
Daily Mail UK reports that Michelle was standing beside Tina in a VIP area in front of the stage.
When Jay-Z was rapping, Michelle kept up the tempo. She joined the crowd and began to dance and wave her hands around like the others.
It gave Michelle a chance to relax
When she was the First Lady, Michelle Obama had plenty of responsibilities. She is now relieved of those duties and can relax without all the pomp and ceremony. The “On the Run II” tour provided her with such an opportunity and she took Sasha along. The concert was the same show in which Beyoncé and Jay-Z treated their French fans to a screening of the World Cup before the concert started. The fans went crazy when France scored, and once France defeated Croatia to seal the World Cup title Beyoncé and Jay-Z performed for the already elated crowd.
Incidentally, Michelle and Sasha had attended a concert by Beyoncé in the past. That was in 2014 when Michelle chaperoned both her daughters, Sasha and Malia, to one of her gigs in Chicago.
Michelle Obama preferred Paris to Kenya
She opted out of a visit to Kenya with her husband Barack Obama. He was scheduled to go to Kenya for the launch of the Sauti Kuu Foundation, a project initiated by his half-sister, Auma Obama.
However, Michelle did not accompany him and may have wanted a change of scene and a chance to let down her hair. Since leaving the White House, she has been busy writing a book, apart from various social activities. The concert was probably a nice way to lighten up and have fun.
According to Sde.ke, Michelle Obama was in Tanzania with Barack where they visited the Serengeti National Park.
Subsequently, they would have gone to Kenya, but she decided to go to Paris instead. She arrived at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s “On the Run II” tour on Saturday evening with her daughter Sasha. This was one of the few occasions the two of them have been seen in public since they became private citizens. Michelle loves music and dance and has been a fan of Beyoncé for a long time, so the brief respite must have been welcome.
