There's great news for Marvel superhero fans as they may get to see Black Widow and Hawkeye standalone Movies in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Now, these beloved characters may also get their own solo films if Marvel Studios is able to make it all work out and if there seems to be enough interest in seeing them.

Hawkeye standalone film possible

According to Movie Web, a report came out recently that suggests there may be solo films on the horizon for the fourth phase of Marvel's movie schedule. That would possibly include a film for Hawkeye, the skilled S.H.I.E.L.D.

agent who is also a member of The Avengers. Also noteworthy, is that the report suggested "different incarnations" of the heroes may be explored in the MCU.

In the first Avengers film and "Age of Ultron," Hawkeye was on the scene. He was also part of "Captain America: Civil War." However, in the newest movie "Avengers: Infinity War" (spoiler alert), Hawkeye was announced as off on a separate mission so he was never seen in the film. It wasn't really known once the film had concluded if he was one of the heroes that Thanos had wiped out of existence by unleashing the Infinity Gauntlet.

With that said, set photos and talk about "Avengers 4" showed that actor Jeremy Renner was part of the film's set in Atlanta. Renner was seen wearing a robe over most of his suit, but it's being rumored that he may have had parts of a uniform for "Ronin" on. This is a different version of the Hawkeye character that could play a part in how The Avengers fight Thanos.

That could also translate to the standalone film.

More Phase 4 movie possibilities

The best part of these reports is the fact that more superheroes could possibly end up with spin-off films or standalone installments. There had been rumors of a Black Widow film for some time and it's now reportedly being developed as a film.

Both Black Widow and Hawkeye were known as mortals that are highly-skilled, which could give their standalone films a sort of cool, action, or spy vibe to them. With Black Widow, when the project goes through with Scarlett Johansson, it could end up being one that draws fans to the theaters. Her Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow has been featured in plenty of starring roles and has continued to play the character in multiple Marvel films. She debuted in "Iron Man 2" and has appeared in a total of six Marvel films, with a seventh on the way ("Avengers 4").

On the flipside, Hawkeye has been less visible in the movies. There was some outrage by fans who noticed he was missing from the newest Avengers film.

That may be resolved depending on what he does (if he appears) in "Avengers 4." Still, it has left some to wonder if this character would draw people to theaters to see his solo movie. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has been active in terms of the rumor mill and has been giving fans some teases about future movies or shows. Recently, he suggested that there could be some projects in the works that involve characters that "only fans of the comics" will know of. In addition, there's the continuing chatter about Marvel getting the X-Men if a deal with 21st Century Fox works out. With all that in mind, it could make for many more great years of Marvel entertainment on the small and big screens.
