The annual Met Gala is the biggest night in fashion. Serving as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, it is the chance for celebrities to step outside the box for fashion and push creative boundaries. Each year has a theme, and this year's was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. As always, there were people who showed up in black-tie attire, but some Celebrities truly knocked it out of the park. Here are some of the best looks from last night.
5. Rihanna
Is it even a Met Gala best dressed list if Rihanna's not on it?
As honorary co-chair, Rihanna always dresses to theme. While many others adorned headpieces similar to halos, Rihanna channeled the pope in her custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano outfit. She paired the outfit with Christian Louboutin shoes, Maria Tash jewlery, and a custom Judith Leiber Couture clutch. Her silver and white outfit was a fan favorite and truly wowed the crowd.
4. Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra wore a stunning deep red Ralph Lauren floor-length gown with an attached cape and a beautiful gold chain headpiece reminiscent of traditional Catholic paintings. A touch of glitter on her arms completed the look. Despite the velvet dress being on the plain side, the headpiece didn't just save the look from being mediocre, it also put her on everyone's best dressed list.
Not only was she absolutely stunning in this look, but her outfit embodied the theme perfectly.
3. Blake Lively
Blake Lively, always the crowd-pleaser, was one of the most anticipated looks of the night. And she did it once again! Lively brought together a host of designers for her complete look. She wore a red Versace dress, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, Christian Louboutin heels, and completed the outfit with a Judith Leiber Couture clutch.
Her look seems to be inspired by Victorian royalty with a modern update -- sheer legs. Her dress was extremely detailed, and the halo-like headpiece atop her bun gave her an ethereal edge.
2. Zendaya
Zendaya absolutely stunned in her Versace dress, accompanied by Tiffany & Co. Jewelry and Jimmy Choo shoes. Her on-theme look channelled the Roman Catholic saint Joan of Arc.
Zendaya usually winds up on everyone's best dressed list, and last night's outfit was no exception. With some people calling her "Rihanna Jr.," she's sure to bring us many more noteworthy looks in the future.
1. Chadwick Boseman
Most of the time, men's red carpet fashion is the same: a black suit and tie. Sometimes they may switch it up and wear white, red, or blue. Last night, Chadwick Boseman of "Infinity War" outshone every other man in attendance by stepping out of the box with this look. He wore an embroidered suit and matching cape by Versace and gold Christian Louboutin shoes. His looks seems inspired by that of Catholic priests. This was Boseman's first Met Gala, but he may be one to watch out for in the future.
