It wasn’t too long ago that Taylor Swift dropped her first music video for her song "Delicate." Since then the video has received over 94 million views on YouTube. In true Taylor Swift fashion, the official music video is littered with hidden references like one shot of Taylor wearing her infamous snake rings.
Now Taylor Swift fans are going crazy over the second music video released for this song. The vertical video was shot completely in one take. Most Swifties are focused on how Taylor shows love for boyfriend Joe Alwyn by wearing a necklace that supposedly had a J on the pendant.
It makes sense that she'd tip her hat to him in this music video considering that the song is rumored to be about him.
But what is more important about this new music video is that it is exclusively on Spotify and you wouldn't believe how hard it was to pull that off.
Swift returns to Spotify
Taylor Swift feuded with Spotify and during a 2014 interview with Time Magazine Swift stated that the conflict was due to the streaming service's unfair compensation for artists. Taylor responded by pulling her entire catalog from the music platform but don’t think that Spotify co-founder and CEO Daniel Elk was going let Taylor get away that easy.
Elk fought hard to win Taylor Swift back: “I went to Nashville many, many times to talk to her team." Daniel Elk went to extreme lengths to better explain how his platform works and how the market for music streaming is changing rapidly.
"I think she saw that fans were asking for it. So eventually when the new album came out, she came to Stockholm and spent some time with our team there figuring out a way that made sense for her.”
Swifties aren’t 100% happy about it
It makes sense that Taylor would rejoin Spotify. By removing herself from the streaming service Taylor ended up alienating herself from the 100 million plus listeners that the platform can provide her.
Spotify is too huge to ignore even if she feels as though she wasn't being paid fairly. This Spotify exclusive music video has generated a huge fan response as well. One fan took to Twitter to remind us of how Taylor left Spotify, forcing fans to get Apple Music during her "1989" tour.
A little more than four years later and we are all back to Spotify to see the must-see music video.
Many of the fans that were without the service were left in the dark about it and were not very happy at all. Regardless of how you feel about Taylor Swift’s return to Spotify, fans will certainly be looking forward to what else Taylor Swift has in store.
