In Los Angeles, California, this past Tuesday (Jan. 16), 46-year-old Grammy award winner, Ricky Martin, announced at the E! News premiere of “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story," the latest FX series which he is starring in, that he and partner, Jwan Yosef, had gotten married. However, he was quiet on the specific details of the ceremony, leaving viewers with little insight except that they are planning on having a big party later in the year.
The big day
Martin has not disclosed many details of the big day to the media. He kept it short and sweet, simply describing that the two exchanged vows and signed the certificate, prenups and all. This quiet wedding came as a shock compared to what he told Andy Cohen last year. He had said he wanted a big three-day long wedding celebration, which was quite the opposite of the nuptials that occurred this January.
However, Martin has assured everyone that they are going to have an all-out big celebration in a few months with a three-day party including a dinner, a reception, and of course, the recovery.
He alerted the media that they had not confirmed a date or location yet, but would let them know as soon as they decide. At this point in time, he is just beyond excited to be able to call Yosef his husband.
How the couple met
Martin met artist Jwan Yosef on Instagram. Yosef is a 33-year-old Syrian and Swedish painter and artist, specializing in plastic arts based in London, England. They made their red carpet debut as a couple in 2016 at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in São Paulo, Brazil. Later that year, in November, they announced their engagement.
Martin described his proposal as very beautiful, but at the same time, he was so nervous. He got down on one knee with a little metal ring box and it actually took him 30 minutes to realize that Yosef said yes.
Fast forward to January 2018 and the couple is beyond thrilled to have officially said their vows, even if it wasn't in a large, fantastic setting.
It is clear that the media and fans are ecstatic to see the happy couple taking this big step and patiently wait to hear the details of their big wedding celebration. Martin is the father of twin nine-year-old sons, Matteo and Valentino, and plans to expand the family with Yosef. However, they have decided to wait until after their big celebration to settle down into married life before adding more children to the picture. As of right now, the couple is basking in the joy of marriage. Congratulations Ricky and Jwan!
