Jeremy Calvert thought it was a good idea to buy a set of guns for his four-year-old daughter, Adalynn Faith, and not surprisingly, his fans and followers on Instagram didn't agree. After the "Teen Mom 2" star and ex-husband of Leah Messer posted images of the child with her new "toys," Calvert was berated by numerous fans who believed he had made an exceptionally bad decision.

On Christmas morning, Leah Messer and Jeremy Calvert's daughter received a 22 caliber crickett and posed with the item for a photo that was ultimately shared by Calvert on Instagram.

In the caption, Calvert told fans that the gun was his baby's first 22 caliber gun and confirmed that his former wife, Messer, was fully aware of what he had purchased for their young child. He also included a number of hashtags, including "Daddy's Country Girl" and "Muddy Girl Camp."

Jeremy Calvert is facing major backlash on Instagram

Although Jeremy Calvert also spoke of gun safety, his followers were immediately concerned and began sending him a number of messages, slamming him for giving a four-year-old a gun and saying his behavior was "crazy." Others pointed out that putting guns in the hands of those who shouldn't have them can lead to gun crime. According to others, Adalynn Faith and other children can become confused by the idea of a gun and not realize that it isn't a toy.

"Disgusting," one person added, according to a December 26 report by In Touch Weekly magazine.

As Jeremy Calvert faced backlash from many fans, others applauded him for allowing his daughter to get comfortable holding a gun. Some even said that Adalynn Faith should be exposed to guns and understand how to handle them in a a safe manner.

Still, exposing a child to gun safety and buying a child a couple of guns are two very different things.

Jeremy Calvert is currently single

While Jeremy Calvert announced that he was in a relationship with one of his former girlfriends several weeks ago, his relationship ultimately came to an abrupt end just days after his relationship announcement on Instagram.

Prior to the news of his relationship, Calvert was linked to his former wife, Leah Messer, who was last linked to her trainer, Theodore "T.R." Dues.

While Calvert and Messer were linked to one another earlier this year after spending time together at a West Virginia bar, the "Teen Mom 2" stars ultimately confirmed that they were nothing more than co-parents.
