Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber may have had a dramatic break-up last year, but that doesn't mean the pair are over each other for good. According to TMZ, Justin has been trying to get in touch with Selena for a while, and realized that he loved the "Bad Liar" singer when she almost died from her lupus SLE. Selena Gomez recently opened up that she had a kidney transplant due to her kidneys failing because of her lupus, and that if she hadn't gotten the transplant from her friend, Francia Raisa, she would have likely died, as the waiting list for a kidney transplant can be up to a decade long.

In addition to her health issues, she broke up with boyfriend The Weeknd, which some thought had something to do with Bieber.

The Weeknd and Selena didn't break-up because of Bieber

The Weeknd reportedly didn't dump Selena Gomez because of her relationship with Justin Bieber. Instead, his hectic tour schedule and her shooting schedule in New York City is what caused the rift between the pair. The relationship was fizzling, according to Hollywood Life, The Weeknd didn't feel like it was fair to continue a relationship with someone who he no longer felt passionate about. Reportedly, this is why he broke up with his ex-girlfriend, Bella Hadid. Selena Gomez was rather quick to jump into Justin Bieber's arms, though, and after everything that happened between the pair, her family is rather wary of Bieber.

According to The Hollywood Gossip, Selena's family absolutely despises Bieber, "and the horse he rode in on." Evidently, in order to get back into the family's good graces, Justin called Selena's mother, Mandy, before asking her daughter out again.

Justin had an 'epiphany' about his relationship

While Justin Bieber seemingly moved on with Sofia Richie, insiders at The Hollywood Gossip reported that he realized how much Selena Gomez meant to him after learning of her kidney transplant and how sick she had actually become.

The "Bad Liar" and "Fetish" singer recently got candid in an interview about her transplant, shedding some tears along the way. She stated that she would have had to receive dialysis for a long time without the transplant, and that she would be incredibly ill. She also said that after receiving the transplant, the kidney turned around inside of her, which made her "freak out" and "grind her teeth." The star had to be rushed to emergency surgery to fix what had happened and ensure that her body accepted the organ.
