Steven Tyler is hoping to put rumors to rest after fans speculated that he suffered a heart attack that caused Aerosmith to cancel the remainder of their "Aero-Vederci Baby! Tour" schedule in South America. The band was supposed to take the concert series to their fans in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Mexico when the lead singer faced "unexpected medical issues" that needed immediate medical attention.
Aerosmith cancels tour dates in South America
No further details were provided on Steven Tyler's health condition in the statement released. E! Online reported that the vocalist reassured the fans that there was nothing to worry about as his condition was not life-threatening. He, however, explained the need for him to fly back to the United States to receive medical care and to take some time off to rest.
The 69-year-old singer-songwriter also guaranteed his return to perform for his fans. Shortly after the tour cancellation, rumors began circulating that the Aerosmith lead vocalist suffered a heart attack in the course of the concert series.
Steven Tyler was quick to debunk these rumors in a social media update he posted over the weekend. In the said post, the legendary singer clarified that the speculations on his health condition were not true. "I give you all an A+ for creative speculations but I certainly did not have a heart attack," he explained.
Rock band brings farewell concert to Europe, South America
Steven Tyler and the Aerosmith kicked off the "Aero-Vederci Baby! Tour" in Israel on May 17, with about 50,000 fans who went to witness the band's first concert in the country after two decades. The rock band did not fail their fans as they performed some of their greatest hits, including "Livin' On The Edge," "Sweet Emotion," and their own version of "Oh Well" by Fleetwood Mac.
Aerosmith completed the European leg of their concert tour back in July before they opened the South American leg of "Aero-Vederci Baby! Tour" in September. Brad Whitford said that the concert series could run until 2021.
It was also revealed that the concert series will serve as Aerosmith's "farewell" tour after more than 40 years of performing for music fans all over the world. The tour announcement came after Joe Perry fully recovered from his health issue.
Many believed the lead guitarist suffered from cardiac arrest after he collapsed during a performance with Johnny Depp in 2016. Joe Perry was immediately taken to the hospital and fortunately regained his strength on the same night, the Metro reported.
