Although most people who watch "The Real Housewives of Orange County" won't be particularly surprised by the news, David Beador and shannon beador have announced that they have called quits on their 17-year marriage. The pair, who have had their struggles heavily documented on the "Real Housewives of Orange County," split last month according to People magazine. Shannon Beador made it official by announcing it herself on social media and asking that their privacy be respected during this "difficult time." She is especially asking for the privacy of their three children, who have watched their parents' marriage crumble on national television.

Affairs and other issues

Most notably, Shannon's husband, David, had an affair on Shannon which was explored on "Real Housewives of Orange County." The pair attended therapy for several years before Shannon said she finally felt like she and David were in a good place. After intense couple's therapy, they stated that they were happier than they had ever been, and even renewed their vows in front of their family and friends. Those who watch the "Housewives" franchise have often joked that a couple renewing their vows on the series is a "kiss of death," as most couples who do so on the show end up divorced just a season or two later. Shannon and David, unfortunately, haven't been able to break the curse.

'It takes two to make a marriage work'

According to Shannon Beador, her husband had almost completely checked out of their marriage. On the current season of "The Real Housewives of Orange County," Shannon discusses how alone she feels in her marriage with David, stating that he seems to prefer going to the gym to hanging out with his family.

Shannon stated many times that he wakes up and goes to the gym early in the morning and then comes home, only to go to the gym at night. She also expressed extreme frustration that the pair does not seem to communicate the way she would like them to, and that they haven't been acting as a team for a long time. Instead, she says, she has felt mostly alone in her marriage and that it takes two to make the relationship work.

However, in her messages on social media, she made it very apparent that David was not willing to do his part to help keep the marriage alive.

The couple's marriage problems are documented on "The Real Housewives of Orange County," but it is unclear if their decision to divorce was also taped.
