Halloween is just around the corner and everyone's favorite vehicular soccer video game is gearing up to celebrate the highly anticipated holiday. In fact, Psyonix just announced the new Halloween event for "Rocket League," which begins this Monday, October 16 at 5 p.m. PST, and will run through November 6 at 10 a.m. PST. In the upcoming event, players will be able to get their hands on some holiday-themed items and new content. Here's what to expect in the upcoming "Haunted Hallows" Halloween event for "Rocket League."

Psyonix introduces new limited-time currency

"Rocket League" players anticipating the "Haunted Hallows" Halloween event can look forward to a new limited-time currency, PlayStation Lifestyle reported.

The first of these limited-time currencies is the Candy Corn, which players can earn through playing and competing in Online Matches. Players can also use the Candy Corn by clicking on the "Special Event" button found on the main menu screen. Players will then be offered Halloween Items, Decryptors, and Locked "Haunted Hallows" Crates with some pretty awesome stuff. The Candy Corn currency can only be used throughout the Halloween event and will expire on November 13. Fans need not worry, however, as all items purchased using Candy Corn will not have an expiration date on them.

What's inside the Event Crates?

Among the most exciting things to arrive in the upcoming "Haunted Hallows" Halloween event for "Rocket League" are the Event Crates.

These are only available for a limited time only, beginning with the event launch on Monday, October 13, up until its conclusion on November 6. Players should note that there are three ways to obtain the Event Crates. First, players can get their hands on a new Crate as a drop following Online Matches. Secondly, they can also purchase a Crate using their Candy Corn limited-time currency.

If players opt to get their hands on the Crates through these two ways, they will need to use a Key or a Decryptor to unlock them. Event Crates can also be purchased directly much like purchasing Keys, and these will not need a Key or Decryptor to unlock. Players should note that these Crates cannot be exchanged, but the items inside them can be traded following the week-long trade hold window.

More tips for Event Crates

"Rocket League" players should note that the "Haunted Hallows" Event Crates won't be updated, so those who choose to open these Crates at a later date will still receive the same potential item inside as during the event launching Monday. "Rocket League" is now playable on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game is also heading to Nintendo Switch later this year, according to Comic Book.
