One of this year's most highly anticipated films comes in the form of DC's "Justice League," which hits theaters next month. Now that viewers are in the final stretch of waiting, actors and actresses linked to production can finally let them into more details about the plot.
One of the most noticeable things about the special footage released in July last year was the fact that the film seemed to have a lighter tone compared to its predecessor, the highly criticized "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." The Comic-Con sneak peek released in July further drove home the point that DC may have taken a page out of Marvel's book and injected some humor into the massive superhero film.
In a recent interview with Geek Magazine (via Screen Rant), Ben Affleck admitted that there was "a big change tonally," but he insists that it's more about the characters interacting with each other and not because fans kept comparing "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" with Marvel's more fun counterparts.
Ben Affleck explains the 'change' in 'Justice League'
Noticeable in the trailers and sneak peeks that Warner Bros. has released for "Justice League" are the quips from Ezra Miller's The Flash, who often keeps injecting funny comments into the dialogue. It was previously reported that he seems to fill the role of Robin to Ben Affleck's Batman, as the two have opposite personalities, which will definitely test Bruce Wayne's patience.
Affleck told Geek Magazine that the tonal change of the upcoming film is caused by "[having] the personalities of all these different characters coming together."
Actor describes the qualities each hero brings to the table
In "Justice League," fans will get to see Ben Affleck's Batman, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller's The Flash, Jason Momoa's Aquaman, and Ray Fisher's Cyborg come together to save the world once again. Of course, that's not without the help of Henry Cavill's Superman. But according to Ben Affleck, there are several qualities that the heroes will bring to the table, which will help Batman become more open to working with others. Affleck said, "[Batman is] humanized by the Flash’s earnestness, Diana’s warmth, even Aquaman’s needling."
"Justice League" premieres in theaters this November 17.
The film is directed by Zack Snyder, with assistance from Joss Whedon, and will also star Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, with Amy Adams, Willem Dafoe, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, and J.K. Simmons. Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor reportedly did not make the final cut of the movie.
