Finally, Jaime (actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has seen the light! We all have known for some time now that Cersei (Lena Headey) has officially gone mad. Although it took him a while, her brother has seen her true colors. There’s no denying it now, but the question is, what’s he going to do?
Cersei and Jaime are on the outs
In the season 7 finale of 'The Game of Thrones', the Dragon and the wolf, we saw a major shift in Cersei and Jaime's relationship.
Let's be honest, Cersei is not going to last too much longer. As far as Jaime goes, he could actually be a good asset for Daenerys’s army. He’s proven himself in battle and he knows what needs to be done. In other words, Jaime is the right type of 'scared' needed in the South right now, at least until the War is over.
Let’s not forget though, there is a bundle of evil on the way. Cersei may be really excited about the baby, but Jaime doesn’t feel the same way. Can you blame him though? I mean everything that happened with Joffrey dying, then Myrcella, and Tommen - it’s a bit much. Plus, Cersei has gotten out of control.
No man wants to be in a relationship (incestuous or not) where he feels like his privates are being held in a vice grip. Well, some men may have a thing for that, but obviously, Jaime’s not one of them.
Is there a new romance?
From the beginning of the series, Cersei and Jaime have been inseparable. Now, we can see the battle lines are about to be drawn. With the appearance of Euron Greyjoy, Cersei has someone else to turn to besides her brother. That was evident in the little stunt they pulled where Euron pretended to leave and head back to the Iron Islands, but actually had plans to sail to Essos and ferry the Golden Company back to King’s Landing.
Both Cersei and Euron have an undeniable heinousness about them.
In a twisted world they could actually be perfect for each other, what with being psychotic and all. It wouldn’t be surprising if they connected on a deeper level than she and Jaime have, especially now.
How will Cersei and Jaime end?
Following the meeting with The Dragon Queen, Cersei walked in on Jaime making plans to send troops to the North (as discussed). After telling him about her plan to basically say screw everyone, the look on his face was priceless. He seemed to be fascinated (like most of us) that his queen still hadn’t wised up and realized the seriousness of the situation, even when an actual White Walker was brought to King’s Landing. Obviously, they're on opposite sides now.
We’ll have to wait to see what actually happens in season 8 but Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, told InStyle that it would be “beautiful” if Jaime killed his sister The Mad Queen since he “killed the Mad King”.
Even with everything she’s done, he may still love her which is why Jaime may leave the deed of killing her to someone else. Either way, it will be epic. Hopefully, it will happen soon because winter is here, and with a vengeance.
