Zayn Malik's fans welcomed the end of the weekend with a shocking surprise from their favorite singer. Malik, who has never shied away from transforming his hair with edgy looks, has now gone completely bald.

In an Instagram photo uploaded by his mother, the 24-year-old pop star can be seen smiling and sporting a newly shaved head.

The new look

Trisha Malik, the singer's mother, was the first one to break the news of her son's haircut via Instagram.

The proud mom shared a cozy looking picture of her, Zayn and his girlfriend, model Gigi Hadid. In the photo is quite clear that Zayn has decided to let go of his old haircut and is now bald.

Fans are no strangers to Malik's hair makeovers. The singer has shown he is not afraid to mix things up and has dyed his hair into different colors, like blonde and green. Just a few days before he decided to cut all of his locks off, he was seen sporting a black buzz cut.

While the new look has been appreciated by a lot of his followers, others haven't been so approving of the change, with many fans taking to Twitter to mourn Malik's old hair style.

New music coming ahead

According to People Magazine, Trisha, Gigi and Zayn are currently enjoying the long weekend in Pennsylvania, where Hadid's mom has a newly acquired horse farm.

Both families seem to be celebrating Eid al-Adha.

But even among the break, Malik doesn't stop working. Just a few days ago, the singer shared a teaser for his new song. The single, titled "Dusk Till Dawn," will feature the vocals of the famous pop star, Sia. The song drops on September 7, and fans are already eagerly awaiting its release.

The new track will be accompanied by a music video, starring actress Jemima Kirke (from "Girls") and directed by Marc Webb, who's known for the movies "500 Days of Summer" and "The Amazing Spider-Man."

Zayn Malik is known for being a member of the popular boy band One Direction.

Back in 2015, in a move that surprised the world, Malik decided to quit the band after 5 years together. Soon after, his debut solo album came out to a lot of positive commentary from music critics.

His album, titled "Mind of Mine," features different genres, but focuses mainly on R&B. The new record earned him several awards: he won a Teen Choice Award in 2016, in the category of "Breakout Artist," and in the same year, he received two American Music Awards, one for "New Artist of the Year" and the other for "Best New Solo Artist."
