His wife Vanessa is also competing on the show, and she is dancing with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Peta's husband. Lachey also said that he and his wife are always competing. In the last competition, his wife and Chmerkovskiy had higher scores.

She suffered the injury during a rehearsal on Friday. She was shown in a video obtained by People Magazine where she said that the bloodied toe hurt. Lachey and her partner Maks Chmerkovskiy have performed very well in the competition and came in third during the season premiere. She also scored higher than her husband in last week's competition.

She and her partner began the season by scoring 21 out of 30 points and trailed couples Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold and Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas by one point. Both she and her husband scored 18 points in the season premiere although she is still beating her husband.
