The “Star Wars” franchise is having a lot of problems lately. The first one happened in June when the untitled “Han Solo” movie had its directors fired. Back then, Christopher Miller and Phil Lord were said to have clashed with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy about the story. They were then replaced by Ron Howard who immediately went to work after being hired. Fortunately, the untitled spin-off didn’t suffer much from this, and the scheduled release has not been changed.

However, the latest problem caused a lot of uproars when director Colin Trevorrow announced that he was leaving the production team of “Star Wars: Episode IX.

” Without Trevorrow, the entire production of the film is in disarray. What will happen with the series now? Who will replace him?

Episode IX” is the final chapter of the new trilogy under Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

Episode IX finds its new director

A week after the incident with Trevorrow, the “Star Wars” franchise bounced back. According to the latest news, Lucasfilm and Disney found its new director in Jj Abrams. Fans of the series will remember Abrams as he directed the first part of the new trilogy “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

In the past, the director has said that he had no plans on coming back to the franchise. Although he loved the series, he thought that getting his hand on one of the titles was enough.

However with the recent development with Trevorrow; somebody had to take his place.

Aside from directing, Abrams is also writing the story for “Episode IX” together with Chris Terrio. Terrio is known for his work on “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and the Academy Award winning film “Argo.” With them on board, “Star Wars Episode IX” is looking very promising.

Kennedy is happy about his return

Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy is glad that Abrams is back. With his past work on “The Force Awakens,” she is excited to see what he has in store for the latest film.

A lot of fans had mixed views about Trevorrow leaving as the film he was supposed to direct was the last part of the new trilogy.

Some fans were glad that he's gone as the director seemed to have a bad streak of films lately. His latest film “The Book Henry” didn’t fare well with the critics and was considered as a blockbuster flop. According to the news, the reason for Trevorrow’s exit was not only because of creative differences but was also due to the director’s attitude as well.
