Many reality television fans happily congratulated the couple on staying married after infidelity. Others found the anniversary post hypocritical and hurtful.

"Counting On" supporters proclaimed that God had forgiven Josh his pedophilia, sexual assault, molestation, incest, cheating, porn addiction, stripper mistress, Ashley Madison accounts and sex addiction. They said that anyone who questioned that was being judgmental and casting stones at the "19 Kids and Counting" star. Ironically, some of them did some judging and rock-throwing saying that "haters" were unChristian and disobeying God.
