Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) are in a sticky situation following the conclusion of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4. In it, the two were found guilty of a crime they did not commit after Lt. Melanie Hawkins (Gina Gershon) framed them for bank robbery. When "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Season 5 begins this September, viewers will get to see Jake and Rosa in jail, with the squad desperately trying to clear their names. Entertainment Weekly just released some promotional photos for the upcoming season, and fans get an eyeful of a bearded Jake Peralta in prison uniform.

Jake's cellmate is a cannibal

As viewers find Jake in jail at the beginning of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 5, they'll also be introduced to Caleb, played by Tim Meadows. He's described as a "cannibal who doesn’t feel like that defines him" because he's actually a woodworker. Initially, Jake isn't aware of Caleb's crime, so he's really in for a surprise when he finds out. Nonetheless, Jake will find a friend in Caleb because Jake is "at his most vulnerable and having to live off of his wits," executive producer Dan Goor told Entertainment Weekly.

Jake might not be in jail for long

In the "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 5 promotional photos published by EW, fans can see a fully-bearded Jake Peralta, which Stephanie Beatriz gave a preview of back in July.

However, it seems that Jake won't be in jail for so long, as viewers can catch a clean-faced Andy Samberg in Taylor Swift's new promotional video in collaboration with AT&T. In it, Swift hilariously banters and challenges Samberg, calling him "Sam-jerk" before kicking him through a wall. In the video, Samberg is back to his clean-shaven face, which may indicate that they are already shooting post-jail "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 5 episodes.

That makes sense, however, as the Nine-Nine squad is doing their best to exonerate Jake and Rosa. They are are watching Lr. Hawkins like a hawk and waiting for her to slip.

Peralta finds a protector in Lou Diamond Phillips

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 5 is also set to welcome Lou Diamond Phillips in a guest-starring role as a criminal mastermind called "Romero." EW reported that Jake will seek "protection" from Romero, who is a "protector." As for Rosa Diaz, she's also in jail but apparently prefers solitary over having cellmates.

In the new photos, Rosa is shown speaking to Captain Holt and Sgt. Jeffords, who visited her in prison. "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 5 is set to return with some interesting storylines for the squad on September 26.
