Fans of the Ohio born group The National are excited for some new music from the five-man band. On September 8, The National will release their seventh studio album titled "Sleep Well Beast."

Four singles have already been released from the 12 track album. The first, "The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness," was released back on May 11 and recently reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs chart. This is the bands first No.1 song after being together for over 17 years. Other released singles from the new album include "Guilty Party," "Carin at the Liquor Store," and "Day I Die."

It's been four years since The National released a new studio album.

Their last album, "Trouble Will Find Me," came out in May of 2013, so fans are ready for some fresh tunes.

The tour

The National will embark on a world tour in support of the new album. The tour will kick off on September 5 at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, PA. This show will be broadcast live on NPR Music, and the band will play every song from "Sleep Well Beast" during this special performance.

From Philadelphia, The National will head to Ireland to play on September 16, 17 and 18. Following Ireland, The National will have a handful of shows in the United Kingdom until making their way back to the U.S. in early October.

Once in the states, The National will get things moving again with a performance in Boston, MA on October 5 at the Wang Theatre.

Other stops in the U.S. will include gigs in New York, Pittsburgh, Detroit, San Diego, and at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

The tour for "Sleep Well Beast" will keep the band on the road until early in 2018. The final show for their world tour will take place in Melbourne, Australia at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on March 1.

The supporting acts for The National will vary between shows, with Daughter, Local Natives, This is the Kit, and Adia Victoria opening up for the band. Many of the shows in the states and overseas are already sold out.

Day I Die

On August 29, The National dropped single number four from "Sleep Well Beast." The song is titled "Day I Die, " and the band included a music video with the release.

The song and video have created a lot of buzz, as fans and critics alike have had many positive things to say about both.

The video was directed by Casey Read and is made up of over 5,000 photos that form a time-lapse arrangement of a night in the life of The National as they perform on stage. The photos are from a performance in Paris that took place last summer.
