Katy Perry is one of the most popular singers in the world. Katy is known to stand apart from the mainstream trends so it did not come across as a surprise when the singer walked the MTV VMAs Red Carpet, wearing a stunning, asymmetric dress, while her cleavage plunged about. The star performed as well as hosted the event. The fans were able to see her in many different outfits as she constantly changed her look while hosting throughout.

Katy Perry’s dress designed by Stephanie Rolland

According to a report by The Daily Mail, Katy Perry’s dress for the evening was designed by Stephanie Rolland.

The fashion designer is known to provide outfits for celebrities including Rihanna and Kim Kardashian among others. The singer donned the dress with one shoulder for only for the first half of the event. She later went on to change into a sheer gray skirt and top and kept changing her look all throughout the event. The popstar also managed to get herself into a bit of controversy while hosting the star-studded awards’ night. The industry knows of the hate Taylor Swift and Katy Perry share for each other as it has been pretty overt, given how both have taken to social media platforms to express their respective disapprovals.

Katy Perry missing from Taylor Swift’s video

The singer was conspicuously missing when Taylor Swift’s video of her latest song, “Look What You Made Me Do,” premiered at the event.

Whether this was a conscious move on Perry’s side or not, is a matter of guessing. Taylor Swift, on the other hand, wasn’t present at the Sunday night event. However, she did a live broadcast from where she was during the time her latest music video was being streamed for the audience. Katy Perry did a good job at clearing out the awkwardness as she even cheekily referred to Taylor Swift during one of her short monologues.

Perry's in gorgeous look at the event

Coming back to the dress, the singer paired it up with hoop earrings that were large. She perfected the look with her pixie hairstyle and a diamond-studded nose ring. This isn’t the first time Katy Perry has hosted the MTV music award show event. She was a part of 2008’s Europe Music Awards, followed up with the 2009 event.

As noted by The Sun, some fans weren’t too happy about her performance. They took to Twitter to express their opinions. Some even called her hosting, “cringe-worthy,” and “boring.” They advised Katy to stick to singing and not return to hosting any more.
