As if bringing home this year’s Golden Globe and Oscar awards was not enough, Emma Stone ends Jennifer Lawrence’s 2-year reign. The La La Land lead has been named as the highest paid actress in Hollywood today.

Emma Watson lands top spot on Forbes’ list

Forbes released the roster of the World's Highest-Paid Actresses for 2017. On top of this year’s list is “La La Land” lead actress Emma Watson. With a whopping $26 million pretax income for the 12 month scoring period, the 28-year-old actress toppled Jennifer Lawrence who placed 1st in the past two years.

According to Forbes, Emma Stone earned a huge chunk of her paycheck from her hit musical movie. Stone was also hailed as Oscar’s Best Actress for her performance in “La La Land” where she portrayed the role of Mia, a barista, and a frustrated artist. The film earned total global box office earnings of $445.3.

According to Mirror, Emma Stone’s 2017 earnings increased by approximately 160% compared to her $10 million bottom figure in 2016. Stone recently opened up about Hollywood’s gender pay gap. The actress shared that some of her males co-leads in various movies had to agree to pay cuts so that she could earn a bigger pay.

Following Stone, actress Jennifer Aniston secured the second spot on the list.

The actress earned a total of $25.5 million in 2017. Aniston continues to enjoy her fame decades after the conclusion of her hit series Friends. The actress’ pay check comes from her roles in big films such as “The Yellow Birds.” The 48-year-old actress is also earning a huge sum from endorsements such as SmartWater, Aveeno, and the Emirates airlines.

Adding to her bottom figure is the sales of Living Proof, a hair-care line owned by Aniston which was purchased by Unilever last December.

Jennifer Lawrence lands the third spot. The “Hunger Games” actress was on top of the list for the past two years. Lawrence earned a total of $24 million this year. Lawrence’s paycheck mostly came from her movies and a long-outstanding contract with Dior.

Completing the top 5 are actresses Melissa McCarthy and Mila Kunis who landed the 4th and 5th places, respectively. McCarthy earned a total of $18 million while Kunis recorded $15.5 million in earnings this year. Emma Watson is the sole newcomer to the list after taking the sixth spot.
