Christina El Moussa has reportedly submitted her divorce petition eight months after her estranged husband, Tarek, filed to dissolve their marriage.

According to E! News, the female "Flip or Flop" host cited "irreconcilable differences" as the grounds for divorce and listed May 23, 2016, as the separation date. Christina is also seeking joint legal and physical custody of their two children, Taylor and Brayden, and requested spousal support.

The submission further stated that the mother of two wanted her former husband to shoulder her attorney fees.

"Christina is glad she is one step closer to putting the divorce behind her," a source told the publication.

Inside Tarek and Christina's relationship

Tarek was the first to submit his divorce petition after he and his then-wife had a heated argument that involved the authorities in December. He also cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split and requested for joint and legal custody of their kids.

"We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution," the couple said in a joint statement, that was cited by Vanity Fair, assuring fans that there was no violence involved during the fight.

The "Flip or Flop" pair added that they sought the help of a counselor after the fight before they eventually announced that they were separating. The two, who had been married for seven years, promised to stay committed to co-parenting their children despite the separation.

The El Moussa's are back in 'Flip or Flop' after split

Their decision to call it quits has raised a lot of questions about whether the El Moussa's will continue working together as "Flip or Flop" co-hosts. Tarek and Christina, however, have decided to return to the program for its eighth season.

Both parties confirmed their comeback and thanked HGTV for their constant support in their tandem.

The network, on the other hand, credited Christina and Tarek for making "Flip or Flop" an audience favorite for the past four years.

"The series is so successful because it shows how real estate and renovation savvy can lead to financial success," HGTV's Allison Paige said.

After confirming their participation for the upcoming installment, Christina and Tarek were seen goofing around on the 'Flip or Flop" set which proved their professionalism and amicable relationship.

Right now, the former couple are enjoying their single lives although Christina is currently dating her long-time friend, Doug Spedding, whom she has been spending time with since her split from Tarek.
