There were no bars holding Chrissy Teigen back when she opened up about her drinking habit in her latest Cosmopolitan interview published on Monday. The 31-year-old model confessed that her alcohol consumption has caused her to worry about her health. She also thought that liquor is the "least thing that helps" her battle against postpartum depression and anxiety.
Chrissy and her struggle with alcohol
At some point, the mother of one realized that she was "just drinking too much" and admitted that it became a habit for her to drink before and after awards shows.
"And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected," she explained.
Chrissy Teigen went on to confess that she felt horrible for herself and for her loved ones upon realizing this habit. The model, however, added that she has struggled to stop herself when it comes to booze. "I don't know how to go to an awards show and not drink," she confessed.
The "Lip Sync Battle" host also said that her family has a history of alcohol abuse before she revealed that she is not the type of person who stops after one drink. It took her a while to realize this unhealthy lifestyle since no one called her out and told her to watch her liquor consumption.
The model added everyone assumed that there was nothing wrong with her drinking habit.
Chrissy Teigen, however, acknowledged that her lifestyle was not right and thought that it was time for her to slow down with her alcohol consumption.
She made this possible during her stay in Bali where she successfully abstained from drinking alcohol. The "FabLife" host noticed how staying sober has positively affected her overall lifestyle.
She even felt "wonderful" and "amazing" and has been eating well ever since she decided to quit drinking.
Chrissy and John planning for baby no. 2
Now that she is back in Los Angeles, the model will have to figure out how she will continue her journey to sobriety in a city where alcohol can be easily accessed. But regardless of what lies ahead in her quest for a healthy lifestyle, Chrissy Teigen is determined to "fix" herself now that she and her husband, John Legend, are planning for a second baby.
In fact, the couple has been traveling abroad to meet their friends and to enjoy some time off before they will face the process of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) for her possible pregnancy in the future. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend had been married for three years before they welcomed their daughter, Luna Simone, after the model received fertility treatments.
