Suicide Squad had been a big hit in local and overseas box office giving it another production. “The Shallows” director, Jaume Collet-Serra has been chosen to direct the second movie of Warner Bros. Suicide Squad 2.

Warner Bros. finally has a new director for its upcoming movie Suicide Squad 2. The first movie which was released last year has been a box office hit giving the studio the signal to create a second movie. Collet-Serra will be the one to direct and has been working for some time now with Liam Neeson in the movies Unknown, Run All Night, Non-Stop and the forthcoming movie The Commuter.

It was David Ayer who directed the star-studded first movie including Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), and Will Smith (Deadshot), to name a few. Warner Bros. originally eyed Mel Gibson to direct Suicide Squad 2. However, due to some script delays, Gibson did not pursue the project. Zak Penn who wrote scripts for Avengers and Ready Player One recently provided new scripts and those additional scripts will now be written.

Suicide Squad was a commercial success

The original movie tells of a group of hopeless prisoners possessing unique expertise who are compelled to take on dreadful criminals. The initial movie was considerably not admired, unlike other movies which are also released in 2016.

However, in terms of sales, Suicide Squad made it big.

Currently, Collet-Sierra has a deal to direct Waco, Annapurna’s TV drama presentation. Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty) and Marc Haimes (Kubo and the Two Strings) will pen the script. The story revolves around FBI and the Texas state authorities along with the David Koresh-led Branch Davidians.

The clash made the once peaceful Elk town to become a war zone. The battle took 51 days leaving 76 people lifeless in a community devoured by an intense fire.

Warner Bros. is considering starting Suicide Squad 2 by the middle of next year as a follow to its “Suicide Squad” in 2016 with a worldwide gross income of $745.6 million.

Ayers stated before that he will make The Joker be the primary antagonist.

There are a lot of scenes of Joker being cut that moviegoers had missed. One is his underwear made of gold. When Jared Leto was asked regarding the deleted scene, he only said, " ‘Ahhh. There was a little bit more than that!". It is no secret that the original movie had generated a handsome amount despite criticism and negative feedback.

Fanatics are hoping that when the DVD version is released the deleted scenes will be included.
