“The Originals” Season 5 has welcomed to the cast “Wonder” actress Danielle Rose Russel for the role of the teenage version of Hope Mikaelson. The CW series will feature another time jump in the upcoming season after the role of Hope was played last season by child actress Summer Fontana.

Russel, whose film credits include “A Walk Among the Tombstones” opposite Liam Neeson and “Aloha” opposite Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams, was cast for the role which promises a potential spinoff for the fantasy series. It can be recalled that "The Vampire Diaries" creator and showrunner Julie Plec hinted that she was planning another spinoff show from The Original franchise like “The Originals” which is now entering its 5th season.

Klaroline reunion

It was earlier rumored that the spin-off would feature a Klaroline reunion, which was teased at “The Vampire Diaries” finale when Klaus sent his former love a note and a generous gift to support her school for the gifted. The buzz further grew with “The Originals” Season 4 featuring the young Hope Mikaelson attending Caroline and Alaric’s school.

Julie Plec who takes over as “The Originals” showrunner from Michael Narducci also did not discount the fact that the spinoff could revolve around the character of Hope. In an interview, Plec said that while the potential is wide open for the boarding school, she has not made any final decisions about the direction of the spinoff.

Plec has confirmed, however, that the planned spinoff could spawn from “The Originals” or it could pick up where “The Originals” will leave the story at the end of its run.

While The CW has confirmed “The Originals” for a fifth season, it is unsure whether it will be the series’ final season on air.

Josh Rosza promoted to series regular

Meanwhile, one “The Originals” character who has been around since the first season has finally been promoted to series regular for Season 5. Steven Krueger, who plays Josh Rosza, a tourist who was turned into a vampire by Marcel.

It is still unsure what Josh’s role in “The Originals” Season 5 will be but it is expected that he will play an important role since he has only played a recurring character in the four previous seasons. Aside from “The Originals,” Krueger has appeared in films like “Goosebumps” and “Satanic.” He also plays recurring characters for television series like “Pretty Little Liars” and “Workaholics.” The fifth season of "The Originals" is expected to premiere on The CW along with its fall lineup.
