Starz unveiled special screening of 'Outlander' season 3 episode 1

This year’s San Diego Comic-Con kicked off this week, and it has already featured many panels from popular television series and new films. As scheduled, cast and crew from the HBO series “Game of Thrones” and “Westworld” showed up at their respective panels today.

However, the biggest highlight from today's scheduled events at the San Diego Comic-Con was the reveal of the first episode of “Outlander” season 3. The unexpected special screening gave the fans, who attended the event, a first look at the new season.

The first episode was revealed after the stars talked about the third season. The show’s panel included Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, executive producers Maril Davis and Ronald D. Moore, and even Diana Gabaldon, who is the author of the “Outlander” novels.

Aside from the surprise screening of the first episode, Starz also released a video recap of the first two seasons of the historical time-travel television series.

It revealed various highlights that geared up fans for the next installment.

EP explains that the new season is ‘pivotal’

Showrunner Moore emphasized that the third season of “Outlander” is a very important chapter because the main characters will be going back to where their adventures all started. Claire Randall goes back to her time and raises her daughter Brianna with her husband, Frank Randall.

However, avid readers of the novels would know that Claire is evidently unhappy with her present life. As revealed in the new teaser, she will also tell Brianna that her real father is Jamie Fraser, which will make the two come to grips with the unexpected truth and Jamie's identity.

Claire will be traveling back to Jamie's time and she will be bringing Briana along with her.

The two will set off on a journey to look for Jamie after tracing his life since the battle of Culloden that took place during the Jacobite rising of 1745.

The new season is set in various times and places that its producers have called “Outlander” a traveling show. The showrunners also promised fans that Claire and Jamie’s reunion is geared to be an emotional one.
