Chester Bennington, the lead singer of the rock band Linkin Park, was found dead in his home early this morning. The 41-year-old musician committed suicide by hanging himself. He was discovered by an employee who quickly called 911 to report the death.

Today also happens to be the birthday of the late Chris Cornell, who also committed suicide just two months ago. Cornell and Bennington were close friends and apparently, Bennington was having a hard time dealing with Cornell's death. Cornell was just 52-years-old when he hung himself in a hotel room in Detroit, MI.

Current album and tour

Bennington had been the lead vocalist of Linkin Park since 1999. The band released their debut studio album in October of 2000 titled "Hybrid Theory." The album was a huge success for Linkin Park and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200.

Since then, the band released six more studio albums. Their latest album, "One More Light," came out on May 19 of this year. It was Linkin Park's first release in nearly three years.

The "One More Light" world tour is currently underway. It kicked off on May 6 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After that, the tour made stops all over Europe with shows in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Madrid and more. The last concert took place at the O2 Arena in London, England on July 3.

Linkin Park was on a short break in their tour. The next scheduled show was set for July 27 in Mansfield, MA. Machine Gun Kelly and One OK Rock were the special guests slated for that night's performance. Other supporting acts for the tour included Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, Sum 41, Rise Against, and Turbopotamos.

Linkin Park was scheduled to perform on the "Good Morning America" Summer Concert Series on August 4 in New York City.

History of drug and alcohol abuse

Chester Bennington wasn't shy when it came to talking about his life growing up and the struggles he encountered. After his parents divorced when he was 11-years-old, he turned to drugs and alcohol. Bennington spent many years abusing a variety of drugs and drinking, and it is unknown at this time if he was under the influence of anything at the time of his death.

Bennington was a father to six children and is currently married to his second wife, Talinda. The couple has been married for twelve years. Talinda was very active on social media and has a ton of posts with and about her husband. She also has a number of retweets by Chris Cornell's wife, Vicky.
