Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were one of the couples we wished would last a lifetime. But just like any other relationships, their marriage was met with challenges which eventually led to their Separation. The Hollywood A-listers announced they were going separate ways a day after celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary in June 2015.

"We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time," the two said in a joint statement.

What went wrong?

According to E! News, Affleck continued to stay in their family home with Garner and kids even after the news came out. In fact, the whole family even went to the Bahamas a month after they have made the announcement to separate. Despite the amicable split, their family was not spared from rumors which involved the "Argo" actor's alleged relationship with their former nanny.

Affleck's party continued to deny these rumors, while Garner has remained tight-lipped over the alleged extra-marital issue. Instead of giving their words on these speculations, the former lovers have remained true to their promise to co-parent their kids by regularly hanging out together as a family.

In February 2016, the "Alias" alum finally opened up about the split and clarified that they have been separated for months before the nanny issue was brought to light.

She explained that her estranged husband's alleged affair has nothing to do with their decision to end their marriage.

But regardless of what happened in their relationship, Garner admitted that Affleck is still the love of her life and the father of her three lovely kids. "What am I going to do about that? He's the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous," she told Vanity Fair in an interview.

Life after separation

A month before their separation turned two, the two actors formally submitted their petitions to divorce from their decade-long marriage. Both parties reportedly cited "irreconcilable differences" as the ground for the split. Meanwhile, Garner was seen enjoying a Malibu trip with her friends on the second anniversary of her separation with Affleck.

ET spotted the mother-of-three as she was about to leave a popular Japanese restaurant on Friday. The 45-year-old actress looked stunning in her see-through top matched with a pair of black pants and sandals. Affleck, on the other hand, is currently in London to film "Justice League" which will hit the cinemas on November 17.
