Jimmy Smits joins 'How to Get Away With Murder'

The Viola Davis starrer will include the arrival of jimmy smits. He will join other guest stars who will appear in the Fall premiere of the upcoming fourth season of the show.

The critically-acclaimed series has tapped the 62-year-old actor for a major disclosed role. He will be part of a season-long storyline in connection with Davis and her character as Annalise Keating.

Smits plays a character who has an influence on Annalise. It is still unknown if he will be her love interest or something more important. This hints that his character might possibly take part in the aftermath of the last season.

What's next for Annalise Keating?

Speaking of Annalise, it looks like she's trying to move forward in a positive way. In the Season 3 finale, Annalise is seen attending an Alcoholics Anonymous gathering where she delivered a gut-wrenching confession about her "almost son."

However, Pete Nowalk pointed out that her journey towards change will not be an easy one.

Her confession about her complicated history with Wes (Alfred Enoch) is already a good starting point.

The show previously ended with a surprising cliffhanger following the big reveal of Wes' killer. He faced an unfortunate death before a mysterious assailant named Dominic (Nicolas Gonzalez).

The latter is a close friend of Laurel's (Karla Souza) family.

It was then revealed that her father Jorge (Esai Morales) ordered him to make the deed.

His passing will have a huge impact on every people close to him such as Laurel. She had been trying to find some clues on the Mahoneys following the big news.

Showrunner Pete Nowalk teased that her mission might change when Dominic appeared after the possible return of Jorge in her life.

According to him, the connection between the three could start a new set of family drama for the Castillos.

Nowalk also hinted the return of Nicolas Gonzalez as Dominic whom he really liked. However, he added that we won't find answers regarding the issue immediately but it is likely to take place as the series progresses. He added, "So, why Dominic did this for Jorge and what his role is in the family, we’ll figure out."

Who is Jimmy Smits?

Smits appeared on various TV shows since 1984 including "NYPD Blue," "The West Wing," "Dexter," and "Sons of Anarchy." He even won several nominations and an Emmy award for his well-received character on "L.A. Law."

His latest acting credits include "24: Legacy," "The Get Down," and the "Star Wars" spin-off movie "Rogue One." Smits also played the father of detective Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Season 4.
