Now that “Criminal Minds” season 13 is all set to premiere this fall on CBS, the biggest question that is bothering fans is whether the season will see the comeback of Thomas Gibson as Aaron Hotchner. Notably, Gibson was asked to leave the show after he had an alleged argument with one of the show's writers.
Fans who wanted their favorite character back on the show started pleading for the same through the popular #NoHotchNoWatch hashtag on social media. To deviate focus off Gibson’s exit, the CBS show introduced a major arc focusing on the popular character, Spencer Reid.
But fan-favorite character’s exit from the crime drama series took a toll on the show’s overall ratings.
According to CarterMatt, "Criminal Minds" Season 12 saw a significant drop in its ratings. In fact the season 12’s average rating is the lowest of all the seasons of the popular CBS drama show. After the writer who was involved in the alleged argument with Gibson has resigned from the show, it is expected that show might request the popular character to return back to the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU).

Brewster revealed that post Damon Gupton’s exit from the show, his role will be played by “Beyond Borders” actor Daniel Henney. As far as Reid’s character is concerned, he will be back with the team.
