Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s divorce after 10 long years of marriage was allegedly caused by the “Batman" star’s alcohol addiction. It was recently reported that after ending his marriage, he has finally moved on in his life and started dating Lindsay Shookus. Reportedly, his new girlfriend also has a history of alcohol abuse.
Lindsay Shookus’ alcohol addiction
According to Celebrity Insider, Ben and Lindsay have both struggled with their respective alcohol addiction at some point in their life. Lindsay, who is famous for “Saturday Night Live,” has reportedly fought alcohol addiction back in 2000 and has also received a drinking charge one for the same.
The report from Celebrity Insider further added that according to recent court documents, the producer of “SNL” received a citation on March 26, 2000, for alleged possession of a malt beverage. As of this writing, the representatives of the producer have not confirmed nor denied the rumors reported by the media outlet.
Ben and Lindsay’s relationship is not yet confirmed by their representatives but Jennifer told Vanity Fair that her estranged husband is a very complicated guy.
Shookus, who grew up in upstate New York, has been working on "Saturday Night Life" since graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002. A publicist close to the ongoing situation between Ben and Shookus said that they cannot believe that a girl from nowhere ruined a perfectly happy married life of such beautiful couple
Ben Affleck’s alcohol addiction caused him his marriage
The 44-year-old Ben went for a 30-day rehab program in 2001, and then again in March 2017 — just after his divorce with Jennifer.
As reported by Mercury News, because of some unrevealed facts, the “Batman V Superman” movie star voluntarily admitted himself to a rehab center. The report further claimed that as it was the actor’s second time to the alcohol addiction rehab center, Garner decided to move ahead with the divorce as she did not wish to raise their children in such environment.
After Affleck’s rehab time, Us Weekly reported that the actor was said to be feeling great and has high hopes for his future. It further noted that the former couple wants to set a good example for their kids that even with so many problems in their life, they can dedicate their time to them and try to make it work.
It was apparently the same time when the star revealed that he wishes to be the best father he can be to his three children. Ben revealed after his time in rehab that he feels very lucky to have a partner like Garner in his life.
