The fans as well as the show-runners of "Wayward Pines" are extremely positive regarding the revival of the show in the form of a third season. Regardless of the prevailing optimism, there hasn’t been any official confirmation regarding the same. Rumors suggest that the show might come up with some new faces.

Season 2 of "Wayward Pines" concluded early last year in the month of July. No information or update regarding a third season had been released yet. It is interesting to note that the second season concluded on a major cliff-hanger, therefore, it will be a shame to see the show go unanswered in the form a third season.

Fans of the show are surely eager to find out what exactly fate holds for the characters of "Wayward Pines."

What happened last

According to a report published by Entertainment Weekly, the second season ended with the Abbie family being seen as being alive and doing well. A new-born baby was also introduced along the course of the finale episode. The main characters, which technically include Theo (Jason Patric), Rebecca (Nimrat Kaur), Xander (Josh Helman), Arlene (Siobhan Fallon Hogan), Frank (Michael Garza), Lucy (Emma Tremblay), and CJ (Djimon Hounsou), were seen retiring from a day inside their pods to descend into a deep sleep. As much as the fans believe that this is a major cliff-hanger, the author of the show — Blake Crouch — thinks that it is rather open-ended.

The fans are apparently being given the freedom to imagine their own ending for the characters of the show. Not much have been revealed regarding the plot of the show but reports hinted that the fate of some characters might be decided in the upcoming show.

Where we go from here

He apparently shared with Entertainment Weekly that the show is entirely focused on the concept of human evolution into Abbies and it does not necessarily have to be a static thing.

This comes across as not-so-reassuring for the fans who await the "Wayward Pines" season 3.

However, fortunately enough Fox chairman Gary Newman confirmed with Deadline that there will be a third season to ‘Wayward Pines.’ Let’s see how far this turns out to be true. For now, the show-runners have to discuss which time would be best for the airing of "Wayward Pines" Season 3. It’s certain that the premiere date of the show is being delayed, however, the official authorities have hinted towards any specific time period as such. Stay tuned for more news and update.
