“Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3” was scheduled to be released in winter 2019, but the development is currently on hold due to “Avengers 4” and “Infinity War.”
In April 2017, Marvel made an announcement that James Gunn would return to direct and write the third “Guardians of Galaxy” film. Gunn was officially hired for Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and set to direct at least three films. He has already teased some of his plans, including the return of Adam Warlock and Zoe Saldana, and the possible inclusion of Elizabeth Debicki. But it seems that “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3” will be slightly delayed as Marvel is currently busy in the production of two other films.
The reason for its delay
Screen Rant reveals that some of what will happen with the Guardians depend on what happens with “Infinity War.” This is why “Galaxy Volume 3” has been delayed for an uncertain period. Marvel, however, claims that production will begin by the end of 2017. All of these films are interconnected, and the studio doesn’t want to mess their stories. Also, Marvel has more expectations with the new “Infinity Wars” films than “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3,” which is why paying utmost attention to their development.
Marvel is currently shooting “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers 4,” which are set to release in 2018 and 2019 respectively; and the production of “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3” will restart in December 2017, which means this film is likely to be released in either 2021 or 2022.
Will ‘Infinity Wars’ affect the new ‘Galaxy’ film?
Yes, the “Avengers: Infinity Wars” movies will affect “Galaxy Vol. 3.” But it’s too early to say which film will break the records at the box office as everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universes gets integrated with time.
Though the third “Galaxy” film took place right after the release of “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2,” we expected that it would hit the theaters by December 2018, but there is nothing like this.
Marvel seems to be busy with the production of other films, but this doesn’t mean “Galaxy Volume 3” will not hit theaters. The studio, instead, has given it a date of 2021. We are hoping that this time there won’t be any delay in production.
Whatever the plans may be, we can confidently say that Gunn is going to top the list of famous Hollywood directors in coming months. What do you feel about it? Don't forget to share your comments!
