Grey's Anatomy is one of the longest running shows on television right now. The tv series made its debut back in 2005, and since then it has built an incredible level of popularity among its viewers. One of the elements that make it what it is, besides the drama in each episode, it's the well-written characters and their heartfelt relationships as portrayed in the show.
Besides that, the medical series has made waves from its beginning because it's one of the most diverse in American television since several of its storylines have featured folks of different sexual orientations and most of its cast stars people of color.
Now that season fourteen approaches, fans are in for a treat, since one of the most beloved characters of the show is returning for a guest arc! This time, long-time fans of the series will get to see Dr. Teddy Altman return once again to the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial.
What we last saw of Teddy
(Spoilers ahead!)
Actress Kim Raver played Teddy Altman, a cardiothoracic surgeon, back in season 6. Fans will remember that Dr. Altman was Chief of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department, and she started working at Grey Sloan Memorial because Dr. Owen Hunt had hired her as a mentor to Christina Yang. At first, her storyline was very connected to Owen's since they were friends from the U.S.
Army, and she even confessed to being in love with him. But, as the show progressed and her character became more popular among viewers, she went on to be featured in other storylines.
Teddy left the show in season eight when she was offered a job in the United States Army Medical Command (MEDCOM). At first, she had rejected it for her friend Owen, whom she wanted to help in case he and Christina decided to separate, but because he saw how much she wanted the job, he decided to fire her. Despite that, they stayed friends and Teddy parted ways with her Seattle coworkers.
What to expect in the new season
One of the most shocking scenes during the last episodes of season thirteen was when it was revealed that Owen's sister, Megan, is alive after being missing for ten years and presumed dead.
We know that this arc is where Teddy might come in since it was mentioned in the finale that she had been the one who recognized Megan in the hospital.
One of the biggest storylines to be expected in the new season is Megan's, and how her appearance will affect her brother, and her lover Dr. Nathan Riggs, and how this, in turn, will influence the other character's arcs, like Meredith Grey's, who was just starting a romantic relationship with Riggs.
The fourteenth season of Grey's Anatomy will make its premiere on ABC next fall. As usual, fans can expect to be in for a rollercoaster of feelings and shocking turns.
