george clooney and his wife amal clooney have finally welcomed their baby twins on Tuesday morning in London, United Kingdom.

George and Amal named their children Ella and Alexander

The 56-year-old actor's human rights lawyer wife gave birth to a baby boy and a baby girl who are named Alexander and Ella respectively.

According to a statement issued to "USA TODAY" by their spokesperson Stan Rosenfield both the babies, Ella and Alexander and mother Amal are healthy and doing well whereas "George is sedated and should recover in a few days.” According to BBC, Amal Clooney's mother Baria who was also present at the hospital during the delivery said that the "babies are beautiful and are doing well."

The gender of the babies was previously revealed by George Clooney's mother Nina Clooney when she told "Vogue" that "It will be one of each! Yes, a boy and a girl. That's what I've been told."

News of the couple's pregnancy broke in February this year

The news of the couple's pregnancy became public this year in early February when the CBS talk show "The Talk" revealed that Amal Clooney was pregnant with twins.

After this, one of the couple's friend and George's co-star from "The Monuments Men" Matt Damon confirmed the news of the A-list couple's pregnancy and revealed how he "almost started crying" after George Clooney told him that Amal was eight-weeks pregnant.

Geroge Clooney on becoming a father for the first time

George Clooney often discussed embracing fatherhood and said that "It's going to be an adventure." Just a few weeks back Clooney talked about how his friends who are his age are already done with raising their children "their kids are all grown up and away to college, and they are laughing."

The Academy Award winner American filmmaker and actor married his Lebanese-British wife on September 27, 2014, in Venice, Italy and this is the first time that both George and Amal will be becoming parents.

Whereas famous comedian and television host Ellen DeGeneres tweeted: "Welcome to the world, Ella, and Alexander Clooney. Congratulations, George and Amal, or as I’m now calling you, Ocean’s Four."
