The very essence of "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" is confusion for the sake of comedy. The show surrounds a mystery being solved by a wacky, unlicensed detective who claims to be led by the universe. This nonsensical nature to the show is one which fuels hilarity as the audience come to realize that Dirk's methods aren't exactly legal, or necessarily smart.
The expectation of the common detective character is completely thrown aside as Dirk sets about to solve crime. With Todd as his sidekick the pair set out to solve, well, they're not entirely sure but one thing is for certain -- things are about to get a whole lot stranger than the audience might expect. With elements of science fiction, destiny and time-travel thrown into the mix this series will have viewers laughing out loud at the utter stupidity and hilarity unfolding on screen.
From a Corgi who insistently follows Todd to a murderous woman who can't die, the mysteries simply do not stop. The audience barely has time to prepare themselves for what will happen next. This fast paced action allows the comedic elements to relieve the tension and the audience can relate to the characters who, like them, don't have a clue what is really going on.

Comedy duo Elijah Wood (Todd Brotzman) and Samuel Barnett (Detective Dirk Gently) portray the hilarious relationship between characters Todd and Dirk to perfection. Dirk Gently is a rather odd character and throughout the series, this oddity weasels his way into resentful Todd's life.
The witty banter between the pair is the center of the series as Dirk sets out to solve a crime with the help of Todd.
Much of the hilarity between the pair results from the socially inept Dirk as he lets the universe guide him to the crime's end. Unemployed and broke, Todd finds himself wrapped up in a mystery, which will change the course of his life forever.
Dirk's holistic methods, however, cause some side bursting moments. From the onset, it is clear that the detective has no idea what he is doing and by the time Todd learns this he is already in too deep.
A second season of "Dirk Gently" is set to grace our screens in 2017 with a total of 10 episodes. The witty detective and his comrades will be back in action soon solving more crimes and mysteries with an air of quirk and hilarity.
