Damon Gupton found inspiration from Tyvis Powell's words of wisdom. On Saturday, the football player wrote a reminder to those who are going through some changes in their lives. "When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal, you do not change your decision to get there," the athlete posted on his social media. The said post caught the attention of the "Criminal Minds" star, who candidly said that he needed those words now that he just lost his job. Apparently, the actor was referring to his spot in the long-running police procedural series, where he played the role of Supervisory Special Agent Stephen Walker.

What will happen to Walker's character?

The 44-year-old actor joined the lineup of "Criminal Minds" after the sudden departure of Thomas Gibson following his alleged physical altercation with a production staff last year. Damon Gupton appeared in a total 15 episodes before he confirmed the sad news to his followers.

Erica Messer has previously revealed the actor's addition to the drama series was not her idea, but a decision made by CBS. The "Criminal Minds" boss admitted it was a challenge for the entire production team to bring in a new character when they do not know what is needed to be filled in.

Aside from Damon Gupton's social media post, seemingly confirming his exit from the show, the people behind the Jeff Davis creation have yet to give their words on the said matter. Right now, it is still uncertain what will happen to the special agent for a smooth exit.

Who's returning in 'Criminal Minds' Season 13?

The police procedural was renewed for another installment in April.

The announcement came a month before the series wrapped up its 12th run with a cliffhanger finale. Meanwhile, AJ Cook and Kirsten Vangsness recently requested for parity with Joe Mantegna and Matthew Gray Gubler in terms of salary in the midst of contract discussions. The two series veterans reportedly said they are willing to bow out from the show if no deal will be reached ahead of "Criminal Minds" Season 13.

The possible shakeup follows last year's major cast overhaul, where viewers saw the departure of Shemar Moore, the comeback of Paget Brewster, the promotion of Aisha Tyler as series regular, and the addition of Adam Rodriquez, along with Damon Gupton, for the 12th year of the popular drama series. Similarly, the show has left the fate of some of its characters on the bubble during the final moments of the previous installment.
