La La Anthony got the sweetest gift from her estranged husband on her 38th birthday last Sunday. Carmelo, who shares one kid with the TV personality, did not miss the opportunity to greet the love of his life on her special day.

The NBA player took to social media to repost his ex-wife's photo and wrote, "I look at you on this birthday, and it is hard to believe another year has passed. You are as beautiful now as ever before!!! Sending Birthday wishes to MY EARTH." He even tagged La La and included a hashtag of "A Very POWERFul Day 6/25" seemingly referring to his former lover's 2014 series "Power" where she starred LaKeisha Grant.

How did La La celebrate her birthday?

The "Think Like A Man Too" actress spent her special day at the 2017 BET Awards in Los Angeles where she was accompanied by her 10-year-old son, Kiyan. In an interview with ET, La La shared that his son, just like his dad, is also good in basketball. She went on and said that she is just proud to have raised a good son who is also performing well in school.

For the annual event, La La channeled a see-through gown matched with a pair of gold shoes, while Kiyan sported an all-white look complemented by a yellow bandana. When she was asked about her ex-husband, the former MTV VJ said Carmelo will always be a family regardless of what happened between them.

What went wrong between them?

La La and Carmelo became official in 2004. The two announced their engagement in the same year, but the actual wedding took place in 2010. “We’ve been engaged since [Carmelo] was 19 years old. We were like "Let’s just take our time." We didn’t put a time on it. I stopped kind of thinking about it," she told Access Hollywood.

The couple was first mired in break-up rumors when the NBA player was accused of cheating on his wife in 2012. Earlier reports stated that a 19-year-old woman reportedly came out to reveal her alleged affair with Carmelo. Three years later, another controversy turned the tables and linked La La to rapper Maino.

But despite being a regular subject of break-up rumors, the Anthonys continued to prove that their love for each other could stand these tests until very recently when La La reportedly moved out of their family after a year of fighting with Carmelo.

A source told Daily News that their separation was no surprise since their "marriage has always been rocky" for the past seven years. It, however, added that the break-up was cordial.
