"Blade Runner" was released in 1982 making it several years since the original movie. The original movie starred Harrison Ford as the main character Rick Deckard. Ford agreed to be part of the sequel "Blade Runner 2049" and joining the cast is Ryan Gosling. Ford is widely known for his roles in the "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" franchise.

Harrison Ford and director Denis Villeneuve had a chat about Villeneuve's vision for the sequel

It would be impossible to make a sequel to "Blade Runner" without original star Harrison Ford. When the actor said he would return for the second movie with one condition, Ridley Scott leaped at the opportunity.

Ford wanted to make sure that whoever was to direct "Blade Runner 2049" would not muddy his character, Rick Deckard. Ultimately, Ford decided on Denis Villeneuve because he liked the script and the direction the director wanted to take Rick Deckard in.

Villeneuve has decided that he wants to keep the use of CGI to a minimum in "Blade Runner 2049". While Scott is no longer directing he will remain heavily involved in the sequel. The actors, director, and producers are all in the same mind as they realize the risks incurred in trying to create a sequel after over 30 years. However, with a talented team, fans are hopeful that they will pull it off.

What we know about the highly anticipated sequel

"Blade Runner 2049" will focus on the task of Ryan Gosling's character. Ryan Gosling is to star as new blade runner Officer K who sets out to track down Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford). Officer K's job is to track down synthetic humans and kill them. However, when a case sends him tracking down Rick Deckard, Deckard must emerge from the wilderness after 30 years.

The old blade runner must abandon his home of 30 years and return to Los Angeles with Officer K.

Producer Ridley Scott and director Denis Villeneuve wanted to expand on the world of the Blade Runners. Ford and Gosling were equally excited about being involved in the reboot with Ford commenting, "I think it's fun to play a character 30 years later." The visual effects and the scenery make for stunning watching.

Villeneuve succeeds in creating a futuristic world. Other cast members include MacKenzie Davis, Ana De Armas, and Sylvia Hoeks.

"Blade Runner 2049" will be appearing in theaters on October 6. Fans, old and new, are excited to see the long anticipated sequel. With such talents as Ford and Gosling starring the movie is already set to be a success.
