Several reports claiming that Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (whose real name is Abel Tesfaye) are working on new music made headlines last week. Rumors began spreading when Max Martin's Wikipedia page listed the "Starboy" singer under the female singer's "In Her Element" song.

Inside Selena and Abel's romance

The two singers first sparked dating rumors when they were spotted getting cozy in Santa Monica just two months after The Weeknd and Bella Hadid broke up. Before he was seen with Gomez, the Canadian singer had an awkward encounter with his ex-girlfriend on the runway of Victoria's Secret Fashion Show held in Paris.

A source close to The Weeknd revealed the male artist has "always had a thing" with the female singer even before they started going out during the holidays. In January, Selena's photographer, Mert Alas, took to his Instagram to share a photo of the "Hands to Myself" singer and mentioned Abel in the comment section.

Another insider said the two started out as friends before their relationship escalated. Hadid's party, on the other hand, said the model reportedly reached out to her ex-lover several times and warned him that Selena is only "using" him. The Weeknd, however, refused to believe this claim and thought that Hadid was just jealous of his new romance.

In the same month, Gomez and The Weeknd seemingly confirmed dating rumors when they followed each other on Instagram.

Although the two decided to keep their romance under wraps, the couple spent a romantic getaway in Italy amidst more dating rumors.

Since then, the two singers have been public about their relationship. In fact, Gomez makes it a point to attend Abel's concert shows despite her busy schedule. They also enjoyed the Coachella festival before they made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2017 Met Gala in New York.

Are they collaborating?

The 24-year-old American singer and actress finally addressed reports regarding her potential collaboration with The Weeknd. According to Hollywood Life, in a recent interview, Gomez denied she is brewing something with her beau. The female artist emphasized she is not working on new music with her partner.

After crushing our hearts, an affiliate of Gomez, however, revealed that the "Kill Em with Kindness" artist has found inspiration in The Weeknd. The source added the singer-producer is just elated to be back in the recording studio. But more than this, Gomez enjoys going on tour with Abel to witness his performances.
