The “Alien: Covenant” director, Ridley Scott, says that a new movie is not in the works. Previously, it was rumored that the filmmaker is secretly working on the new version. According to Ridley, he is currently developing a prequel to “Prometheus,” and there is no chance for another “Alien: Covenant” film. Speaking to AlloCiné while promoting the new movie, Scott said that there is no script, and no star cast for another “Alien” movie, which means fans have to wait at least two years before he changes his plans.
‘Alien: Covenant’ – a Hollywood film
“Alien: Covenant” is one of the most anticipated Hollywood movies. It is directed and co-produced by Ridley and scripted by Dante Harper and John Logan. Michael Green has penned the dialogues. “Alien: Covenant” is the second film in the “Alien” series and a direct sequel to 2012 thriller “Prometheus.”
The leading roles are played by Demian Bichir, Danny McBride, Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup and Katherine Waterston. The film will swing into theaters on May 12, in 2D and IMAX. The story revolves around a warrior, Covenant, who teams up with a scientist, David, to find the secrets of another galaxy.
Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby play the supporting characters.
The development and possible sequel
In 2012, before the theoretical release of “Prometheus,” Scott hinted at the prospects of “Alien: Covenant.” He said a prequel is likely to be developed in collaboration with Michael Fassbender, and Noomi Rapace. The title of the film was confirmed in September 2015 at a press conference where Ridley shared details about the synopsis and the star cast.
Most of the scenes have been shot in Fiordland, with CreatureNFX and Odd Studios serving as visual effect companies.
Over thirty experts from the two production houses worked for almost one year building animatronics for “Alien: Covenant.” In January 2017, Scott confirmed Harry Gregson to compose the musical score for the film. In September 2016, he revealed that several sequels and reboots are in the works, but there’s no confirmation about their release dates.
Scott is also credited for the success of “Blade Runner,” “Gladiator,” “Black Hawk Down,” “American Gangster,” and “The Martian.” We look forward to his new movie and have high expectations.
