Erika Jayne was a no-show for the group performance on the “Dancing With The Stars” finale, but she had a pretty good reason. The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star was noticeably missing from the splashy, supersized group performance on the season finale of the ABC celebrity ballroom competition and was instead spotted sitting on the sidelines.
According to TMZ, the 45-year-old pop singer-turned-reality star skipped the finale routine because she needed surgery for an upper body tear that she endured while competing on the show in April.
Erika reportedly kept her surgery a secret from everyone because she didn’t want fans to feel sorry for her.
An insider told E! News the star was being hospitalized “due to a ‘Dancing with the Stars’ injury,” and that she “hurt herself while doing the show but never talked about it because she didn't want sympathy.”
The source did not reveal exactly what type of procedure Erika is getting done but confirmed that the “XX$PENSIVE” singer would be in the hospital for a few days.
The glamorous life
While Erika Jayne kept her surgery a secret from her fans after she checked into the hospital a few days after the “DWTS” finale, she chronicled the surgery prep on her social media story.
Erika posted a make-up free Instagram selfie with the caption, “hospital lighting is amazing.” The usually glamorous singer also posted for selfies in hospital garb which showed off the IV in her arm.
‘Dancing’ days
Erika Girardi had a five-week run on “Dancing With the Stars” with pro partner Gleb Savchenko. Interestingly, Savchenko was partnered with Erika’s “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast mate Lisa Vanderpump when she was a competitor on the ABC dance competition several years ago.
Erika was the fourth celebrity eliminated this season on the TV dance-off, behind Chris Kattan, Charo, and Mr.
T. Many fans were surprised by Erika’s stiffness during her short stint on "Dancing With the Stars,” but now that we know she injured herself it makes a bit more sense.
While she didn’t win the coveted mirrorball trophy this season on “Dancing With the Stars”—that honor went to NFL star Rashad Jennings and his pro partner Emma Slater—Erika did take home a mini unicorn mirrorball trophy at the end of the season.
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” was recently renewed for its eighth season on Bravo. “Dancing With the Stars” returns to ABC this fall for Season 25.
