Penélope Cruz has transformed into Donatella Versace, and is set to play the famous fashion powerblond in “american crime story.” On Monday, the Oscar winner was spotted donning a beautiful wig on the set of the miniseries in Florida, where the shooting is continued these days. In March, executive producer Ryan Murphy confirmed Cruz for the leading role in the FX series titled “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.” The story is inspired by Maureen Orth's novel "Vulgar Favors".

“American Crime Story” is a famous crime anthology show developed by Larry Karaszewki and Scott Alexander. Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Falchuk are serving as executive producers. It is a spin-off of the TV show American Horror Story, and debuted on FX in the US on February 2, 2016.

Just like the parent show, “American Crime Story” is presented in the form of self-contained miniseries, followed by the unrelated events. Sterling K. Brown, Cuba Gooding, Christian Clemenson, Kenneth Choi, Nathan Lane, Bruce Greenwood, Sarah Paulson, John Travolta, David Schwimmer, and Courtney Vance play the leading characters.

Chris Bauer, Selma Blair, Jordana Brewster, Connie Britton, Garrett Brown, Dale Godboldo, Jessica Blair Herman, Evan Handler, and Larry King play the supporting characters.

Initially, the series was developed for Fox, but in 2014, it moved to the sibling cable network FX. In October 2015, the network released its first promotional trailer, showing a dog running through the street. The first season of “American Crime Story” received critical acclaim, with an approval rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 79 reviews.

On Metacritic, the season scored 96 out of 100 based on 30 critics.
