Surprisingly, Kim Kardashian West came alone at the Met Gala 2017. Another thing that surprised fans is her simple attire during the extravagant event.

To recall, Kim grabbed the attention of many for her attire during the Olivier Rousteing's Balmain for the "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" of last year's Met Gala. Last year, the star arrived on the red carpet with her rapper husband Kanye West. But this year, things are a lot different.

To the dismay of his fans, Kanye did not attend the Met Gala 2017. Instead of enjoying the spotlight with his wife, he preferred to stay in their Los Angeles home to take care of their kids North and Saint.

Kanye's decision to miss the Met Gala is part of his withdrawal from public appearances ever since his hospitalization due to a breakdown last November. His hospital confinement stemmed from the lack of sleep and exhaustion.

It is anticipated that there will be stories about their marriage problem because of Kanye's absence. But a source confirmed that the couple is doing fine and that Kanye is just taking time off. The source added that the rapper is supportive of Kim's attendance at the star-studded event.

Kim and husband Kanye debut as a couple at the 2013 Met Gala. Since then, the pair attends the event together. This is the first year that Kim went solo since they were together.

British fashion icon Vivienne Westwood designed the long sleeve maxi dress which is less revealing than her previous attires. She wore her hair in a pin-straight style with stripped-back make-up.

Kim's appearance follows days after controversial photos of her emerged on the internet during her vacation in Mexico. Papparizis managed to get a raw photo of the star showing cellulite in her bum. With that, she received a massive fan backlash saying that the mother-of-two is fake since she shows flawless images on her Instagram account but in truth, she isn't that smooth. It is reported that she lose about 100,000 followers because of the photo.
