This morning, Funko revealed a series of pop figures for the mega-budget film, “War for the planet of the Apes.” The company has shared the pops on its official website, and these look incredible. For now, only two pops are launched, but the company has plans to release at least 200 vinyl figures by the end of this month.

A Funko spokesperson stated yesterday that the firm had joined hands with Marvel to manufacture and distribute Marvel Collector Corps, a subscription box service featuring apparel, accessories, and collectibles of different types.

It is likely to launch subscription box services for “War for the Planet of the Apes,” and “Star Wars” film series.

‘War for the Planet of the Apes’

“War for the Planet of the Apes” is a forthcoming science-fiction movie by Matt Reeves. The story and dialogues are penned by none other than Mark Bomback. It is the third film in the “Planet of the Apes” franchise, and a sequel to the 2014 blockbuster, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” The leading roles are played by Andy Serkis, Steve Zahn, Woody Harrelson, Amirah Miller, Terry Notary, and Karin Konoval.

“War for the Planet of the Apes” is scheduled to be released on July 14, 2017. After the event of “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” the apes and Caesar get stuck in a war against weird creatures.

Gradually, the apes reduce in number and Caesar is forced to fight alone on the battlefield. It's not easy for him to win as there are various challenges and complications.

The production, marketing, and sequel

In January 2014, Matt Reeves negotiated the film with Chernin Entertainment and 20th Century Fox. The studios confirmed him after seeing his cut in the blockbuster, “Dawn.” Principal photography started in October 2015 and ended in November 2016.

The film is shot in New York, under the title “Hidden Fortress.”

In November 2015, special behind-the-scene clips were released for the movie. In April 2016, the first teaser trailer was released online and went viral in no time. Serkis, Dylan, and Reeves promoted the film at an event in New York City in April 2017.

In a recent interview with MTV News, the filmmaker claimed that two to three sequels are in the works.

Though the shooting has not yet started, the sequels may be released from 2019 to 2021. There is no information about the star cast and plot of the new “Planet of the Apes” films. But we assume that these will break the records of previous blockbusters.
