Emma Watson has become the first female celebrity to win the MTV Movie and TV Awards' gender-neutral trophy for her incredible performance in “Beauty and the Beast.”

At the event, the actress looked excited, thanking the show host, Kate Dillon, who presented her an award for portraying Bella. Later on, she thanked “Beauty and the Beast” filmmaker and the whole team for their hard work. The 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards was held on Sunday, May 7, 2017, in California.

It was the 27th edition of the awards, honoring the works of television and film stars. Adam DeVine hosted the ceremony, and it broadcast on Viacom and MTV. The ceremony featured live performances of Zara Larsson, All Time Low, Bea Miller, and Issa Rae.

“Beauty and the Beast” is one of the highest grossing movies of the year. It is directed by Bill Condon, and scripted by Stephen Chbosky, with Evan Spiliotopoulos serving as co-producer. It is a joint project of Walt Disney and Mandeville Films.

“Beauty and the Beast” is based on the 1992 animated movie of the same name, an adaptation of Jeanne Marie’s fairy tale. In addition to Emma, the film features Josh Gad, Luke Evans, Dan Stevens, Audra McDonald, Ian McKellen, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Emma Thompson, and Kevin Kline.

Principal photography started in June 2015 and concluded in August 2016, at Shepperton Studios in Surrey. The movie was released in the standard, IMAX 3D, Disney Digital 3-D, and DVD formats.
